How are two seemingly distinct systems directly related?
At first glance, humidification and evaporative cooling seem to have different purposes. However, both are based on the same fundamental physical principle.
- Both systems introduce water into the air
- Both use evaporation, a process that removes heat from the environment
- In enclosed spaces, this process increases the level of relative humidity.
- In open or well-ventilated environments, continuous evaporation generates a natural cooling effect
What is the connection between these systems?
The real technical challenge lies not just in introducing water into the air, but in the way this process is carried out, controlled and optimised. It is here that system engineering and experience make all the difference.
At Guimaraens Technical Systems, we work with three main evaporative cooling and humidification system technologies:
Ultrasonic Systems
Ultrasonic systems use high-frequency vibrations to turn water into an extremely fine mist. They are highly energy-efficient and allow for precise humidity control, making them ideal for controlled indoor environments.
Compressed Air Systems
These systems use compressed air (typically at 6 bar) to atomise the water through specialised nozzles. The result is very fine droplets that evaporate quickly, ensuring efficient humidification and effective cooling.
High-Pressure Systems
In these systems, water is pressurised to around 80 bar and released through precision nozzles, creating an extremely fine mist. This evaporates almost instantly, making it particularly effective for large-area evaporative cooling applications.
How to choose the most suitable system?
The choice of the ideal system depends on various technical and operational factors:
- Intended purpose (humidification, cooling, or both)
- Desired performance and efficiency level
- Available budget
- Environmental conditions and location
- Physical and technical limitations of space
Each project requires a bespoke solution – there are no universal systems.
Controls and Accessories: Essential Elements
The introduction of water into the air is only part of the solution. Control systems and accessories are fundamental in ensuring efficiency, precision, and reliability.
- Sensors and control systems allow humidity to be regulated with high precision, preventing excesses and ensuring stability
- Accessories, such as fans, increase evaporation efficiency and improve overall system performance, especially in cooling applications
Every Project is Unique
No two installations are the same. With over 28 years of experience, Guimaraens Technical Systems develops and supplies humidification and evaporative cooling solutions tailored to each client, guaranteeing the best balance between performance, efficiency, and cost.
